  • Where is the Star of Honolulu® located?

    The Star of Honolulu® is located 15 minutes from Waikiki, at the Pier 8, Aloha Tower Marketplace, 1 Aloha Tower Drive, Honolulu Hawaii, 96813. Find us on Google Maps.

  • Where do I park? Do you validate parking?

    Reduced fee parking is available at the Piers 5 and 6 at the Aloha Tower Marketplace when you obtain validation from the Star of Honolulu®. Simply present your parking ticket upon check-in to receive the validation for reduced fee parking.

    Additional nearby parking may be found at Topa Financial Center, Pacific Guardian Center, Harbor Court, and Harbor Square. Please inquire for current rates at these facilities.

    Note: Parking facilities are not owned and operated by Star of Honolulu and are subject to change without notice.

     

  • Do you offer transportation services?

    Yes. Round-trip motorcoach transportation is available from major Waikiki hotels for $15.00 per person and from Ko Olina or Kahala for $34.00 per person. Additional usage fee applies to some hotels. For Five Star guests, a private limousine option from Waikiki or Kahala is also available for $75.00 per person.

  • Do you operate everyday?

    Yes! The Star of Honolulu® operates seven days a week, year-round. For special cruise hours during the holidays, click here.

  • Do you have a dress code?

    For our Five Star Sunset Dining & Jazz cruise, no shorts, t-shirts or slippers/flip-flops, please. Out of respect for other guests, our dress code is strictly enforced. For Three Star, Star and Pacific Star dinner cruises, we recommend resort casual with long pants. For daytime cruises, casual attire and shorts are fine.

  • How do I book a cruise?

    To book your cruise, call us at 808-983-STAR (7827) from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM Hawaiian Standard time, or visit us online anytime. Upon requesting your cruise online, your credit card will be charged. Within 24 hours, you will receive a reply from Star of Honolulu Cruises & Events, confirming your cruise if the date requested is available, or you will be contacted by a reservationist. If we are unable to accommodate your party on another date, a full refund is provided.

  • What is your cancellation policy?

    Cancellations or changes for parties under 10 may be made up to 24 hours prior to your cruise departure, without charge. Cancellations made within 24 hours or “no showing” on your cruise date will result in a full charge. To cancel or make changes to your reservation, please call 808-983-STAR (7827), using your confirmation number as a reference. For parties of 10 or more, please inquire for our group cancellation policy.

  • If I am driving on my own, when do I need to check in?

    Check in 45 minutes prior to your cruise departure.

  • Will I get something special as a repeat guest?

    Returning to Star of Honolulu®? We’re honored. You’ll receive “VIP Card” when you cruise with us. On your next visit, present your card to your server for a special VIP gift!

  • We’re celebrating a birthday; can you help us make it special?

    Special occasions are our specialty. Whether you’re celebrating a birthday, wedding or anniversary, you’ll find the perfect enhancement to add a special touch to your cruise. Click here to see our cakes, wines, memory photos and more. To add an enhancement to your reservation, call 808-983-STAR (7827) at least 24 hours in advance of your cruise date.

  • Do you offer alternative entrées for guests with special dietary needs?

    Alternative entrées (fish, chicken or vegan) are available with 24-hours advance notice. For more information, refer to the “Special Diet Information” under the “Menu” section of each cruise. To order an alternative entrée, please call 808-983-STAR (7827).

  • Do you have a child price?

    Yes! We offer a special price for children ages 3-11. Children two and under, sitting on their parent’s lap are free of charge. Our Five Star Sunset Dining & Jazz is not recommended for children.

  • What time is the sunset?

    Sunset times vary. For your convenience, find the sunset time in your menu provided onboard.

  • Can you arrange exclusive transportation for my group?

    Absolutely. Exclusive transportation for groups with a minimum of 30 can be arranged for an additional $5.00 per person. A usage fee applies for some hotels.

  • Do you offer private parties?

    Yes, private events are our specialty. The STAR® is popular for wedding receptions, corporate parties and incentive functions from 20 to over 1,000 guests. With over 60 years of experience, beautiful dining rooms, a master culinary team and the largest cast of entertainers on the ocean, the Star of Honolulu is perfect for your private event.   • Do you do anything special on holidays?

    Whether it is Valentines Day, Easter, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, 4th of July or New Year’s Eve, there’s always something festive happening at the Star of Honolulu®! Visit https://starofhonolulu.com/holiday-cruises-oahu-hawaii/ for more information on our holiday cruises.

  • Is tip included?

    Tips are not included and are completely at the discretion of the guest. If you enjoyed our service, feel free to leave a tip and fill out our comment card or review us on TripAdvisor.

  • May I bring my own cake and candles?

    With 24 hours advance notice, you may bring your own cake for a cakeage fee of $30.00 per cake. We’ll provide the utensils, plates and a souvenir cake server. However, candles are not permitted under U.S. Coast Guard regulations. For your convenience, we also provide Lei cakes and Wedding cakes, please inquire in advance.

  • Will you cancel a cruise due to inclement weather?

    Safety is our first priority. The captain may alter the cruise route for the comfort and safety of our guests. In very rare cases, a cruise may be canceled due to severe weather. If a cruise is canceled, every attempt will be made to contact you to reschedule your cruise, or you may call 808-983-STAR (7827) using your confirmation number as a reference.

  • Is smoking allowed onboard?

    Yes. Smoking is permitted outside on the fourth deck after departure.

  • Is the Star of Honolulu® wheelchair accessible?

    Yes. The Star of Honolulu® is Hawaii’s only ADA compliant ship with boarding ramps, 2 elevators to accommodate wheelchairs. Please advise your reservationist upon making reservations. With 24 hours advance notice, accessible transportation can also be arranged by calling 808-983-STAR (7827).

  • Are strollers allowed?

    Yes.

  • Where is the best place to view Friday fireworks?

    The Star of Honolulu® offers four spacious walk-around decks and a 60’ high observation deck, all of which offers prime views of sunset and fireworks.

  • Do we need to bring our ID's?

    Yes, we may ask you to present a valid photo ID. Alcoholic beverages may only be served to guests 21 years and older.

  • Are pets allowed?

    Pets are not allowed. We follow the American Disabilities Act guideline for service animals which allows those that are individually trained to do work or perform physical tasks for people with physical or mental disabilities. Animals whose sole function is to provide comfort or emotional support do not qualify as a service animal under the ADA.

  • I've forgotten an item onboard, who shall I contact?

    To inquire about a lost item, please call 808-983-STAR (7827) as soon as possible. We are not responsible for lost or stolen personal property left behind, but we will do our best to locate your lost item.

  • What is the cruise route?

    The Star of Honolulu® is equipped with 3 types of stabilizers and is certified to go beyond Diamond Head to view the beautiful Kahala Gold Coast. For the comfort and safety of our guest the Captain may alter the route depending on weather conditions.

  • What should I do if I am prone to motion sickness?

    Onboard, ask for complimentary 100% herbal ginger capsules to help settle your stomach. Take these at your own discretion. Don’t hesitate to ask any staff for assistance.

  • What should we do in the event of a natural disaster and we have a reservation?

    In the rare case of a natural disaster, every attempt will be made to contact you to reschedule your cruise, or you may call 808-983-STAR (7827) using your confirmation number as a reference.

  • What is an easy way to customize my cruise?

    We have a wide selection of enhancements from the most popular Celebration Plan for $30 per person (minimum 2 persons) to selections of vintage wine, champagne, and cakes. Click here for options. To add an enhancement to your reservation, call 808-983-STAR (7827) at least 24 hours in advance of your cruise date.

For Whale Watching Guests

  • What happens if I don't see a whale?

    With our Whale Guarantee, in the rare case that you do not see a whale, you’ll receive a “Whale Check” to cruise again (meal, transportation optional), until a whale is sighted!

  • May I bring my own food or beverage?

    Outside food and beverages are not allowed onboard. However, if you are purchasing a cruise without a meal, ask your reservationist or any crew member about meal upgrade options and they’ll be happy to assist you.

  • How close can we see whales?

    Federal regulations prohibit us from approaching within 100 yards (90m) of a humpback whale. Whales may approach us; we are very careful to avoid injury to whales in such cases.
